Orlando Gold Travel Teams will run in two seasons. We will have a tryout in Mid November with practices starting the first week of December. The Winter season will then last until the second weekend in February culminating with the Penn State Ninvitational. Teams will then take off the 3 months until the end of the high school season. We will have another tryout the first Sunday of May and start putting teams back together for the summer.
Players electing to play BOTH the winter and summer seasons will not have to try-out a second time.
The summer season will consist of 3 major tournaments- East Coast Championships Memorial Day Weekend (Sat-Mon) in Richmond, VA; AAU National Champiosnhips in mid June in Orlando; and BJOVC July 1-8, exact dates and location TBA. There will also be 2-3 smaller local tournaments as well.
Orlando Gold Training Teams
Orlando Gold will be providing training teams for boys 14 and under. The teams will focus solely on skill development and will have several Saturday mini tournaments for the boys where they will get split into teams and have an opportunity to compete. Players with varying skill levels from beginning to advanced are more than welcome to participate. The training teams will run December though June.
Orlando Gold will also be running a series of 2 month 'mini-club' seasons. These groups will focus on training and skill development with 2-3 competition dates where we split the groups into teams and put them in a mini tournament. The first mini club season starts June 15-August 15. The groups will train Monday and Wednesday from 5:30-7:30pm at the Orlando Sports Center. The cost for this season is $200/month and will include two practice shirts per player.
Orlando Gold Camps and Clinics
Orlando Gold will be conducting various camps and clinics throughout the year for players of varying skill and age levels. There will be a 6-week, 12-session fall clinic beginning the first Monday of October and will run Monday and Wednesday nights for 2 hours.
We will be running an 8 week boy's volleyball clinic beginning June 15. The practices will run 5:30-7:30 Monday and Wednesday from June 15-August 15. Players will receive an Orlando Gold practice shirt and there will be three Saturday tournament dates as well.
Gold will also run a summer volleyball camp. This year's camp will be July 17-19, 2009 from 9am-3pm. The camp will be held at Orlando Sports Center and lunch will be included with the camp as well as a camp t-shirt. The camps will focus on general skills and is open to boys age 8-18 with varying skill levels.
